One of the best ways we can practically show the love of Jesus is to serve our community. This Summer, we are partnering with various organizations that serve our community to help make a difference in the lives of those around us. We're calling it Summer of Service. Each week we will have opportunities to serve. Join us for as many opportunities as you can. This best way to get plugged in to Summer of Service is to join the Summer of Service Life Group. 

Portland Rescue Mission (PRM)

The Portland Rescue Mission has been serving the city since 1949, giving hope and restoring life to men, women, and children struggling with hunger, homelessness and addiction. We get to come alongside their ministry and serve one evening at their facility and serve a meal, and host a church service, contributing to the change they are already bringing.

City Team:

Night Strike - Night Strike is a humanitarian outreach program centered around community, connection, and kindness. We get to partner with City Team’s efforts in reaching out to those who are houseless, as we will be handing out hot cocoa, PB&J sandwiches, and a variety of resources for those in the designated area(s) around Burnside Bridge.

Love Your Neighbord - Every month City Team hosts an event called Love Your Neighbor, which is focused on blessing and loving those who are a part of their resident program which helps those who are a part of it  through addiction and recovery. We get the opportunity to serve them with a good meal and spend time with them and to hear their stories.

Tigard Balloon Festival:

As many of you know, the city of Tigard holds an annual festival called the Balloon Festival. This will be an opportunity for our church to serve and connect with our community by helping in whatever ways are needed in order to keep the festival running. This will be a great way to practically love our neighbors!

Good Neighbor Project:

Churches all throughout the Portland area uniting to do serve projects all over the city. This is a great opportunity to work alongside our brothers and sisters from different churches and unite for one purpose - showing Jesus to our city through serving them in any myriad of volunteer opportunities.

With Love:

With Love is a non-profit organization honored to support foster families by providing safe, clean, quality clothing and supplies for children ages 0-6. Many times, foster parents find out they are receiving a child mere hours before bringing them home. For that reason, they are often unprepared and overwhelmed. They strive to provide foster families with everything they may need, from clothes to car seats and toys to diapers, so they can focus on loving their little one. We get to serve and participate in helping With Love and their provision of much needed items by serving in their distribution warehouse and doing various needed volunteer jobs.
 

Serve Days @ Faith Journey:

One fantastic opportunity to serve is right here at our own facility. As you might already know, it takes a team to maintain the grounds at Faith Journey/Gaarde Christian School. As we have an array of projects that need the help of volunteers, look no further than right here to show your love through service.
